I was horrified and appalled today. My darling sister Jenny, told me about a website called zabasearch.com. For $50 U.S. dollars this website offers a background check service that can provide the following information about friend, family or foe:

I have undergone background checks for certain jobs. I work with young people. The big difference is that I consent to that, and what they find out is kept confidential. With this site; however, at anytime, anyone can find out just about anything about me or you.
I have no major skeletons in my closet, and I'm an open book. Hello I blog about my life. What I'm concerned about is how information like the items listed above can be used in negative ways. And,that "much more..." part scares me, because at what point does the invasion of my privacy end.

Allan, I don't want to scare you even more, but when I was working as a journalist, I could uncover much of this kind of information without having to pay anything (my newspaper has subscriptions with various services). Often I would call sources and tell them things about themselves and they'd be very surprised.

That's scary. It's absurd. I think some information should be left private. What good is that going to do. I've have to do several backgroung checks, and I have nothing to hide, either. It's just the principle of the matter.
