2009 Survival Manual - Addendum

Don't keep this on the T. Share this with all of your good people. Here is how one can receive all of the good blessing waiting for you in 2009:

1. Take the best care of your body that you can, at this moment in time. If the lumpy, bumpy, fleshy thing you move in this space is not healthy, than nothing will feel right. Like a peeble in your shoe, or even worse, dogshit on the bottom of your shoe. Everywhere you go smells like shit. Work at fueling yourslef as much as possible with things that turn to the sun for nourshiment. I struggle with this good people, but it's worth the battle.

2. Replace the negative with the positive. I hear all of yah moving air molecules as you huff and puff at this cliche idea. Motherfuckers, give it a motherfucking chance. Okay darlings? Replace hate with love. Remove fear with bravery. And, most important replace lies with truth.

3. Wonderment is a good thing. Find something new and exciting, green and inviting. Be life-long learners and get in the game. Get outside of yourself and your head and remember that the wise person knows, he or she knows nothing at all. The great mind studies ideas, the mediocre mind studies events, and the small mind studies people. Find the balance. Ya know I love my junk-food for the mind, but there has to be a balance.

I love you good people. You came into this world perfect, and sadly for some of you, others told or treated you differently. Dream big and put action into it, the Universe will assist you with the work you have done, make your dreams possible.

Happy New Year, ya crazy and adorable, High-Riding Bitches!

Psst...Yo I Got That Louis & Coach

True story good people. As I was making my way through Chinatown in NYC the other day, I noticed some not so down-low thing going on. Stationed at several key locations throughout Canal St. are asian women going up to touristy looking ladies, and letting them know they have the connection for designer bag knock-offs. They even have a sheet of paper showing the styles their sweatshops are putting out.

At one point this suburban looking white woman was huddled into a phone kiosk talking to the "connection" about what she has and how much is she asking for. Meanwhile, her counterparts looked on with a nervous giddiness. I'm sure they were living on the edge.

A few blocks down I see a billboard that lets folks know when you buy knock-offs and other counterfiet items you are supporting, child labor, drug trafficking, sweatshops and other negative influnces on communities and countries.

But these "shoppers" don't give a fuck. That's those people's problem, not theirs. Hey, fake bitches, flaunt fake shit!

NY State of Mind

Thanks to my darling friend Izzy, I have been staying at his apartment on 16th St in NYC for the past two days. He went on a lovely vacay to S.F. with his man, Victor. I hope they are having a blast. I know I am.

I'll share the sordid details later. Todd! Junior! Watch your backs, you never know where this blogger is going to show up! LOL.

Here are some not so good pics of my walk around today. I used my cell phone camera. If you want real hot pics of NYC, visit Todd's blog.

This gentelman (pitcured below) has been selling his little handy-dandy vegetable peelers, on the streets of NYC for years now. He has a English accent and is always in his suit. I think just about every NYer has at one point of time seen him in action. He goes everywhere!

Ahhh good ol' graffiti. Brings back memories of my days as a b-boy

Jean Paul Goat Yeah

Junior inspired me to post this video, with his most recent entry on his blog.

I was reminded how back in the late 80s, Jean Paul Gaultier was all the rage for the fashion queens. The gurls did not venture out into the night without their fashion being bangled, beaded, bustled, billowing, bold and black. The queens wanted to always make the unique fashion statement. Everybody was a fashion designer. Good people, I use to wear leggings with some thrift store finds one night, and then threw on the banji-drag on other nights. LOL. Whew! I was all over the place.

Nowadays, you see a lot of the homo thug look and/or a style that was bought straight off the rack. It's cute, yet commercial. Christopher St. is no longer the fashion runway it use to be.

A scandalous track from Sophia Lamar. Is she hating, or sending out a wake-up call? I will say this, I have a low tolerance for phony bullshit. Yet, I'm okay with manscaping. It's my pisces nature.

Stargazing Again

The winter sky is returning. The giant Orion is back in view. He looks like the image above.

Marcos needs some stargazing in his life. I want him to indulge in wonderment because, it's a healing thing. Yesterday, I took him out around dusk and showed him Jupiter and Venus, which are visible to us folks in the Northeast of the U.S. Just look Southwest into the early evening night sky. They are the two biggest points of light. Remember, planets don't flicker, so the light is steady. Enjoy the view. It's miraculous.

Speaking of Miracles

In this season of miracles, I was reminded of a youtube post I did sometime ago. Click below to see what it was all about.

There is an interesting development regarding this post. I heard from the son of the mother I had talked about. He had this to say:

"That woman that you are talking about, that mom, she is my mom. And her brain injured son is my brother. And I just think that it's really great to hear a positive response to this whole thing because my mother has been getting really frustrated with people who are saying that she should be arrested because she is using the drug in an illegal way. So thank you for being someone who sees this the way that it was meant to be seen."

I wrote him back and told him his mother rocks, and that she should keep doing what she is doing, and that I hope his brother and family are doing better.

R.I.F.

Over the past few years I have revisited some of my favorites books. I may have blog about this before. I have found the experience to be so much fun. Recently I reread Animal Farm by George Orwell, and Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut. I have to say both books have proved rather prophetic.

I'm sure you are all familiar with the tale of corruption that unfolds in Animal Farm. If not check it out. I think every young person should be given this book by an older caring human being. It's a must. I gave it to my nephew on his 14th birthday and inscribed in the book "Don't ever become a sheep!"

Galapagos tells the tale of a planet that is killing its natural resources, paper money is losing its value, and the big brains of humans causes more trouble than they are worth. Also, the tale is told by a ghost that stays on earth for a million years, because he was waiting to see when humans beings finally became better people.

Ahh books. Oh and I finally got a library card for the local libraries. My school's library did not have a circulating copy of Animal Farm (can you imagine that) and I realized I needed to increase my options.

Get On The Bus

I love public transportation. I can even tolerate the times when it's crowded, or smelly, etc. etc. One reason is I think it's a way to cut back on polluting the earth. I also think the fare here in CT ($1.25) is very reasonable. What I really dig is the overheard conversations and spontaneous situations that go on. Here is a sampling:

Elderly woman gets on the bus. She is all of 4'5" tall. Wrapped in layers of clothing, it was really cold that day. She takes her seat, looks around and starts to hum what seemed like a gospel tune. Than the spirit hits her and she feel compelled to testify:

"I got JESUS with me! Yes, the lord is taking care of me. I am blessed people. You all need to pray and thank the lord. I got my nails done, I got my radio at home. I'll settle in and lock my bedroom door. My husband has his own bedroom. I have no need for him after 25 years. I'm married to Jesus now. The only man I want to hook up with if it aint Jesus, is Obama. Obama! Obama! Obama!"

Many of my fellow passengers, myself included chuckled and smiled at each other. One middle-aged woman then said "Amen, I'd like to hook up with Obama too!"

To which the elderly women replied "Yes, sister!" while she looked at her freshly painted, fire engine red, nails.

A High-Riding Bitch

I was a smart-ass when I was a child, became a people-pleaser as a teen, and have slowly evolved into a high-riding bitch.

Let me unpack that term for you. Here's my definition:

A high-riding bitch moves through space in time, with love, beauty and compassion in her heart. Her head is filled with thoughts of what is true and possible in the world and she strives to contribute to make it happen.

She accepts herself for being human, yet sucks her teeth and smirks when her vulnerabilities are revealed to herself and others. When faced with adversity she digs into her bag of wisdom and plots the best course she is capable of at that point and time. Whatever doesn't work she notes it down and doesn't go that route again.

She believes in forgiveness, because it is really the only way to put down the baggage and move on. Hey, she walks through life in killer heels, so she doesn't need the extra weight.

Only when necessary she destroys. She understands that slash and burn is sometimes necessary in order to allow something new to grow. This belief in that red hot energy is also summoned when she has to tell life to have a seat, so that she can kick it in the teeth.

It not about being evil, catty or selfish. That's for children. It's about the high-riding bitch being convinced that she matters in the world, just like everyone else does, and she doesn't have to hide anymore.

Approach us high-riding bitches with the best of intentions. A better ally you will never find. She is divine energy that likes her valley of goodness licked, and will always return the favor.

Life on the Rock - Holiday Season

A few years back I worked at 75 Rockefeller Plaza. I had the perfect view of the Christmas tree. It was lovely to watch and despite the job becoming an emotional drain on me, I did appreciate my my view during those five years.

Here's a little secret about the tree. It's actually kinda scrawny, very Charlie Brown-ish. The weeks leading up to the lighting ceremony, they fill in the bare patches and thinned out areas with remnants from other trees. Yes, good people, the tree gets a weave job!

Also, all of the Rockettes wear really thick pantyhose that gives their legs a uniformed-skin tone and blemish free effect. Oh and they are not really all that tall. But, honey they got that synchronicity thing down!

Happy Holidays.

Three Fold Disease

I'm reminded by friends and family that became clean and sober about a term used for this time of year. The "Three Fold Disease" refers to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. This time of year earned this reputation among AA members, because it was the time of year that they experienced most of the family drama that has affected them, had their first drink, and all that forced cheer grates on the last nerve.

I offer these little words of wisdom and humor to help get my good people through the holiday season:

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. - Audrey Hepburn

When everything is going good the mind comes in and says "watch out!" Because you listen to the mind's fears you stop living. The mind would keep you always the same, never taking risks. Newness is an enemy to the mind, sameness is it's friend. - Osho

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. - Groucho Marx

A real human is somebody who feels and who expresses his or her feelings. This may sound easy. It isn't.

A lot of people think or believe or know what they feel---but that's thinking or believing or knowing: not feeling. And being real is feeling---not just knowing or believing or thinking. - e.e. cummings

If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else. - Yogi Berra

You just can't make this shit up. This is worthy of another performance by Tina Fey on SNL.

The Times Are A Changing

Looks like Darth Cheney and Fredo are in hot water. Watch Fredo get thrown under the bus again.

"A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County's federal detention centers.

The indictment criticizes Cheney's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees by working through the prison companies.

Gonzales is accused of using his position while in office to stop an investigation into abuses at the federal detention centers." Source: Huffiington Post

A Lullaby For Johnny

My adorable buddy Johnny was up late last night. The poor guy could not fall asleep. I gave him this lullaby, and he went out like a light.

Sung to the tune of "Rock-a-bye Baby"

Rock a bye Johnny
Dream of a top
When he goes in
Your insides will rock
When his load cums
Your ass will be wet
And happy is Johnny
With no regrets

I can be such a nasty boy at times. I can see Junior rolling his eyes at this post. LOL

Sister Sarah! Use Your Words

What the fuck is she talking about?

I promised myself that I would not do a post about Sarah Palin until 2012, when she goes for her ill-advised second go. However, this post by Dick Cavett cracked me the fuck up. Click on this link for the full kiki. Mind you, it's a bit "elitist" but it makes a strong point about how words are used by the good, the bad, and the confused.

Mr. Cavett poses the question: "What on earth are our underpaid teachers, laboring in the vineyards of education, supposed to tell students about the following sentence, committed by the serial syntax-killer from Wasilla High and gleaned by my colleague Maureen Dowd for preservation for those who ask, “How was it she talked?”

This is how Sarah Palin talked: "My concern has been the atrocities there in Darfur and the relevance to me with that issue as we spoke about Africa and some of the countries there that were kind of the people succumbing to the dictators and the corruption of some collapsed governments on the continent, the relevance was Alaska’s investment in Darfur with some of our permanent fund dollars."

Did You Know?

Today was National Adoption Day. A lot of young people are waiting to become part of a family.

SIDENOTE: Hmmm, some states don't allow GLBT or single people to adopt. In the words of Margaret Cho, Jesus Christ sees what's the religious right are doing and screams "That's not what I meant!"

Taking It To The Streets

That's me y'all with the sign.

Today, Marcos and I joined the crowd of over 200 in New Haven, to rally against the passing of Prop. 8 in California. It's been a very long time since I participated in a rally and march. It was long overdue.

It is time for change. And, YES WE CAN!

Here's Marcos holding the "Stope the Hate" sign:

Let love rule!

Equality NOW!

Minister John Gage from United Church on the Green spoke to the crowd. He shared that love is the message. Amen.

Strange Dream

Late last night I had a craving for a second serving of the beef stew, I had made for dinner. I had a very small bowl, and went right back to sleep. This was the outcome.

I had this dream that several alien spaceships landed in NYC. It was daytime and the streets were filled with people. Suddenly a large speaker came out of the ships and calm deep voice said:

"We are here to enslave your planet, and to help you with the process we are offering the following injections."

Then these little black boxes came out of a hatch and had three samples that offered a drug that would alter your perception of reality. They were packaged really cute and depending on your dose you would be fairly aware of what was going on or totally oblivious.

The people on the streets asked the ship why we would need to be medicated the ship replied:

"We are a reptilian race. You will find our appearance grotesque and nightmarish, which will result in some of you going mad, and would make it generally difficult for us to interact. We are offering this drug to make the transition easier."

Everyone was a bit anxious but there was no real pandemonium. Marcos and I starting exiting Manhattan. I told him:

"We don't need to take the drug, this is a set up. All we have to do is see them from a distance so that our brain can process what we are seeing without going mad. We can gradually train ourselves to tolerate their appearance. We have to stay aware in order to fight back."

My mother always said one should never go to bed after eating. Y'all that beef stew was worth the crazy dream.

A Fly On The Wall

What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in the oval office today. Here's how I think it went.

Bush: You're kidding me?

Obama: No, I'm absolutely serious.

Bush: That bastard! He told me the V.P. is suppose to handle those things.

Obama: Nope.

Bush: Well, aint that something. See I figured something crooked was going on. I would leave our meetings, and the rest of dem stood behind.

Obama: So, what did you do all this time?

Bush: I signed a bunch of stuff.

Obama: Didn't you question these things?

Bush: Well, no not really. I mean they explained it real nice and slow. It all sounded good to me. (Bush snicker and snorts with a smirk)

Obama: (scratches forehead and lets out a sigh) So back to the restroom thing. Which one you said has the dart board.

Bush: Oh yeah, let me take you to it. Oh and Berrack, it comes in real handy for when you need to make a decision, any throw above 10 is a yes, and any throw below is a veto. (snort)

For My Fellow New Yawkers

"LGBT New Yorkers and Straight Allies Please Join Us...

Wednesday, November 12, 6:30-8:00pm at New York Manhattan Mormon Temple, 125 Columbus Ave at 65th Street

Tens of thousands of our brothers and sisters are in the streets in California and Salt Lake City and around the country protesting the votes banning same-sex marriage in California. Join them! Make your voices heard right here in New York City.

We will tell the Mormon Church how we feel about its relentless campaign to condemn and control our lives. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was, by far, the biggest financer of California's heinous and hateful Proposition 8. The Mormon Church begged their members to donate money to Prop 8, pouring 20 million dollars into the campaign. And their attacks on us didn't start there and aren't about to end. They're plotting right now to bring their money and influence to bear against the LGBT community everywhere in this country, including trying to prevent marriage equality in New York.

PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION - BRING SIGNS -- ALERT THE MEDIA"

With that said the Mormon church should lose its tax-exempt status. They are a PAC.

La Opinion on Prop. 8

La Opinion is one of the major spanish-language newspapers in California. This is what they had to say about the passing of Prop. 8.

"The election in California had two faces. One is pride that a large majority voted for the man who would be the first African-American president of the United States. The second is the embarrassment of changing the Constitution to impose restrictions on the rights of a minority in California.

The approval of Proposition 8, which arbitrarily limits the definition of marriage to a particular set of restrictive, exclusionary and religious values, is a dark mark on the democracy of our state.

California voters granted rights to chickens, pigs and calves in this election. And, they approved infrastructure investment. But, the majority of voters turned their backs on the defense of civil rights of individuals.

We have always defended the people's vote in a democracy but when the intention is to attack the rights of a minority, it turns into a tyranny of the majority. Over the course of our nation's history, there have been many dark pages during which the majority approved racism, segregation and discrimination. The courts were the ultimate defense. In California, not even this last recourse could stop fundamentalism.

Fear and intolerance were the winners with this initiative. It was falsely asserted that marriage and children were in danger. If the traditional nuclear family is such a fragile institution, it is not because of homosexuals nor are they responsible for the values that parents impart, or fail to impart, to their children.

Religious-moral values are due respect but there is not a one size fits all in state as diverse as California. It is a tragedy when values based on intolerance and exclusion pretend to be universal."

My how God is used to divide humanity and move us further from the light of love!

CNN Is Cracking Me Up

They are ODing with the technology over at CNN. Jessica Yellin was just beamed in via hologram to give in her report. Plus, each reporter and pundit has a laptop in front of them. Add to that all of the large plasma touchscreen gadgets. This is so not a "green" coverage of the election.

Nov. 5th Can Not Get Here Soon Enough For Me

I just saw this McCain campaign ad here in CT. Did anyone tell these folks that Joe is NOT a plumber, and hasn't PAID his taxes? And, do these folks understand that Obama was talking about the wealthy paying their fair share of taxes, rather than the rest of us hoping the wealth will trickle down to the masses. Fucking Lemmings!

I also find it amazing the McCain campaign still gives Joe face time. You would think they realize most folks know he was a plant, that he has been exposed as a phony, and that Joe would not see his taxes raised under Obama's tax plan.

Musical Dedications

I'm feeling for a little trip down memory lane, but in a musical way. These selections are inspired by those dedications you would hear from time to time on the radio.

For My Good People:

For John & Sarah

For Luna:

Happy Halloween

Halloween rocks in my neighborhood. I just gave out the last piece of candy. I was thoroughly entertained by seeing all the kiddies dressed up. The highlight occurred when I told a group of young boys that my neighbors around the corner have turned their home into a haunted graveyard. The boys replied with the enthusiastic "Yessss!" and gave each other a high-five and quickly ran around the corner.

Lucky for them and the community that my good neighbors Donna and Eric (see pic below) create a spooky scene every year for all to see. The pics were taken with my digital camera. I'm sure there is an explanation for the eerie waves of light, but I'm saying it caused by the thinning of the veil on Halloween night, that separates our world from those that are on the other side. Break out the Ouija board and ask correctly. Never a good thing to offend the spirits.

This darling boy is Christopher. He is the son of Fernando and Mitchell, that live across the street. This is his first Halloween trick or treating. He was having a ball and loved being dressed up. Can't you tell? And I gave him his first piece of candy for the night. I had to bring it back to me. LOL

Lipstick On The Collar

According to Michael Musto and several folks I actually know, one should never tell a friend that their boyfriend, girlfriend, wife or husband is cheating on them. Michael believes at the end of the day, it is the messenger that gets shot (click on his name for the full post).

Catching your friend's significant other in some slide-off action really sucks. Unless you know for a fact they are in an open-relationship or not really serious. Telling them about an incident of infidelity is truly horrendous, because they will be devastated and embarrassed. Yet, I don't think helping with the lie is something a friend should do.

I think it is all about how you deliver the message and what sort of support you offer after delivering the bad news. The way I see it you would risk losing the friendship or feel like shit when he or she finds out you knew about it and said nothing.

Good people, share your thoughts with how you would handle this sorta situation.

Princess Rei Rei

Princess Rei Rei is a fierce, lovely, going places gurl! We worked together for a few years in very chi-chi jobs, at one of the largest media companies in the world. I don't say this to sound pretentious, but rather to lead into acknowledging what about her makes me dig her so much.

Like myself Princess Rei Rei came from a world where our mothers had to raise their kids alone, and at times didn't have two nickels to rub together. We also share the experience of being queer in an urban, poor, homophobic and drug infested environment. At the end of the day people like Princess Rei Rei and myself had the odds stacked against us.

Yet here she is, well educated, high level corporate position, property owner, mentor, advocate, campaigned for Hillary, well the list goes on and on. I also adore that she makes it her duty to get up in her drags every Halloween, and embrace her inner loca-diva-pussy-meowness.

She gave me the okay to share some of her pics from her recent outing in Key West. Please note the hot shirtless boy was all over my Princess Rei Rei. I started hating on her, jealousy is an ugly thing, but then remembered that she rocks. So all I have to say is you better kaishinnosaku mamita!

Clean Bill of Health?

Most of the folks running in the 2008 Presidential election have provided some level of information regarding their medical/health history. The exception is Gov. Palin:

"Nothing is known publicly about Ms. Palin’s medical history, aside from the much-discussed circumstances surrounding the birth of her fifth child last April. Ms. Palin has said that her water broke while she was at a conference in Dallas and that she flew to Anchorage, where she gave birth to her son Trig hours after landing.

Last week Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for Ms. Palin, said the governor declined to be interviewed or provide any health records."

Dang, she doesn't give much in terms of interviews, only speaks at rallies of supportive GOP members, doesn't want to answer questions posed to her in debates, and won't release information regarding her health status. Who is Sarah Palin?

Did You Know?

I had no idea that October is GLBT History Month. I thought our moment of reflection and appreciation occurs in June, but perhaps that is reseved just for pride. Funny that, you would think they would be combined because one supports the other.

Oh and I was surprised, maybe I missed the memo, but I didn't know Stephen Sondheim was gay. Well, I thought he was bi or questioning. See, I never assume anything or I'm just totally naive.

Hmm, I wonder who is going to be given the task of defining anti-American. Lord, knows it can't be based on somebody having an opinion opposite of yours, because, that is anti-American.

Addendum: Rep. Bahcmann, be careful what you wish for, because the "penetrating expose" would have to be focused on all, not just the other side of the room. It would wise for you to make your views fall in line, with the definition of pro-American! If not, repudiate them and just stop any form of free and inquisitive thinking.
