My Love/Hate Moment with IKEA

As I'm looking through the 2009 IKEA catalog, I find myself wanting so much of what I'm seeing. The lovefest ends when I'm revisited by memories of having to assemble the stuff that often comes with instructions that are illustrated sequences. I need words with those pics IKEA. I also recall how a lot of their stuff is made from compressed wood shavings, and what I call almost-metal. Some of their items really don't hold up well. In all fairness, their pricing reflects this reality.

I also get frustrated because I see these images of a "lifestyle" that seems so organized yet chic at the same time. I have yet to master both traits simultaneously. My life is a pattern of moments of one, minus the other. I attribute this to my Pisces nature, and I have an astrological chart to prove it.

My favorite items that I have from IKEA would fall in the accessories category. I enjoy their lamps, cookware, fabrications and bric-a-brac. I guess I follow a dab of IKEA approach when creating my living space.

IKEA is like a Starbucks, but for the home, you're sold this hipster aesthetic. I'm ending my thoughts with appreciation for IKEA. Hey, they do rock when it comes to inspiration for overall decorating and floor planning. As a matter of fact, Marcos is so taking me there tomorrow. Ohhhhh and I can get a couple of bags of the Swedish potato chips. Their chips are yummy.

I love IKEA. Actually...I've never owned any IKEA, so I guess I love the idea of IKEA. :) I've been to a store once and ate at the Cafe. lol. ;)

IKEA stuff doesn't work for me... Give me a parking lot sized flea mkt with old antiques and junk! Woohoo!

I hear you Todd. Renew, Recycle and Repurpose. And, your approach connects us to a history, as well as crafts that may no longer exist.

Did I just hear someone say they don't... have... any... IKEA!

I LOVE IKEA! I walk through those doors and start singing like Maria in The Sound of Music. I especially love their glassware. If I lived in my car, I'd still buy glassware from Ikea...

Hi, breezed in after reading your cruel comment on Mr. HK's journal.

I've got a lot of Ikea stuff including a desk I've had about 15 years which cost peanuts and is still holding up strong in daily use. I don't know about the US, but the Ikeas here in GB do the best hot dogs...

LOL Keith you started it all. And, you're right he left himself wide open for some fun teasing. I'm sure he is having a good laugh knowing that his readers have dirt little minds.
